Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, courage and freshness the keys for victory

By Alice Buscaldi

The Academy Ceremony couldn’t finish in a better waySpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the Oscar as the best animated feature, marking the first Academy Award for directors Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman, and producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
With its inspiring story and fresh visual style, Sony Pictures Animation signed even the win in the animated feature category as non-Disney films. In fact, this is only the sixth time since the category was introduced (in 2001) that the award didn’t go to a movie from Disney or Pixar.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse topped a field of nominees that included Pixar’s Incredibles 2, Disney’s Ralph Breaks the Internet, Fox Searchlight’s Isle of Dogs and GKIDS’ Mirai.
It’s lovely indeed to see the Academy honor originality, braveness, and revolutionary animation. It’s been touching hear from the directors their impressions, keeping the little golden statue into the hands:
Ramsey thanked the film’s audience, saying “we love you and we just want you all to know we see you, you’re powerful. The world needs you. … so please, we’re all counting on you.”
And Persichetti added: ‘Anyone can wear the mask; everyone is powerful and everyone is necessary, and that is the spirit of the movie’.
So, we couldn’t be gladder than so, see how the braveness and the talent are appreciating and recognized as it deserves, really bravoes to all the amazing animators, background artist, visual FX, sound engineering and directors who made it, is truly deserved.
